Front cover of Printers Pie, 1908, illustrated by John Hassall, featuring a shopkeeper in the doorway of Ye Pie Shop, the same that was featured on the cover of the previous years magazine, but looking a bit more rotund a year on - a metaphor for the increasing size of the magazine.Printers Pie was published by The Sphere and Tatler in aid of the Printers Pension, Almshouse and Orphan Asylum Corporation and edited by W. Hugh Spottiswoode. A sister publication, Winter's Pie, was published each Christmas. Both magazines carried contributions from the leading artists and humorous writers of the day including John Hassall (who designed the covers), William Heath Robinson, Lawson Wood and Walter Emanuel.
