Miraculously unharmed after a nighttime train wreck on the Paris-Ventimiglia line, these passengers found solace in the captivating world of color lithographs. One image depicted a traditional forge, its fiery heart illuminated in the dark, while another bore witness to the demobilization of munitions in Germany. The destructive power of fire was also evident in a lithograph of a torne explosion in an American workshop, where liquefied metal consumed 27 workers. Yet, the beauty of fire was showcased in another print, The High Example, as copper was roasted in a furnace, its cakes glowing amidst wooden faggots for heat. The Hungarian process of refining copper was further illustrated, with cupellation cakes roasted and releasing heat at 5 o'clock. The metals industry came alive in these colorful lithographs, with copper, aluminum, zinc, iron, and lead taking center stage. The blast furnaces at Teesside Steelworks in England roared to life, their flames casting long shadows over the Teesside landscape.
