Thomas More (1478-1535) was an English philosopher, chancellor, and humanist who faced immense challenges during his lifetime. One of the most significant events in his life was his arrest and torture due to King Henry VIII's demand for an oath recognizing the king's spiritual supremacy. Despite this ordeal, More remained steadfast in his beliefs. In 1518, More published a book titled "De optmo republicae statu deque nova insula Utopia, " which presented a fictional island called Utopia. Engraved by Johann Froben, the book provided a thought-provoking view of an ideal society. This work showcased More's intellectual prowess and innovative thinking.
