"Timekeeping: A Journey through the Ages" Step into the world as we explore its fascinating history and evolution. From iconic Rolex wrist watches to intricate Waterbury pocket watches, each piece tells a unique story. In 1931, an alluring Rolex wrist watch advertisement captivated the masses with its elegance and precision. Meanwhile, G. H. Davis's Schneider contest nerve centre showcased innovation at its finest, pushing boundaries in time measurement. Travel back even further to 1890 when an advert for Waterbury pocket watches captured hearts with their timeless charm. These exquisite timepieces were treasured possessions that stood the test of time. Grand Central Terminal Railway mesmerized visitors with sculptures depicting Clock and Hercules, Mercury and Minerva - symbols of punctuality and wisdom. The essence of these sculptures embodied the importance placed on accurate timekeeping. Le Roy et Fils, originators of the bracelet from New Bond Street in London, revolutionized fashion by combining style with functionality. Their advertisement spoke volumes about their commitment to creating masterpieces that adorned wrists while keeping perfect time. Ctesibius of Alexandria's ingenious invention took us back to c270 BC – a reconstruction of his clepsydra (water clock). This ancient marvel demonstrated humanity's early fascination with measuring hours using water flow. John Bennett pocket watches from 1892 epitomized craftsmanship at its finest. Each tick echoed generations' dedication to precision engineering and impeccable design. A stunning minute repeating full calendar keyless lever watch from around 1900 showcased moon phases within a hunter case made from luxurious 18k gold. It was not just a watch; it was a work of art adorning one's wrist. The striking Automaton Lion Clock from c1640 blended gilt-brass and ebony seamlessly while captivating viewers with its mechanical wonders—a true testament to human ingenuity throughout history. Les Raisons des Forces Mouvantes introduced us to another remarkable creation, the Water Clock.
