Tony Thirkell, a seasoned sidecar racer, has left an indelible mark on the world of motorcycle racing. Partnered with various talented riders throughout his career, he has showcased his exceptional skills and passion for the sport. In 2015, Tony Thirkell joined forces with Dean Kilkenny as part of MR Equipe Honda during the Sidecar TT. Their synchronized maneuvers and unwavering determination earned them well-deserved recognition. Fast forward to 2022, and Thirkell teamed up with Trevor Johnson once again, this time riding the powerful BMW NRE in the Pre TT Classic. Together, they displayed their prowess on the track and left spectators in awe. The duo's success continued in previous years' Pre TT Classics as well. In 2018, Thirkell and Johnson rode under MRE BMW's banner, showcasing their expertise and leaving competitors trailing behind. Thirkell's partnership with Nigel Barlow proved fruitful during the 2012 Sidecar TT when they piloted MR Equipe Honda to victory. Their seamless teamwork was evident as they conquered challenging terrains with finesse. Rewinding back to 2004, Tony Thirkell collaborated with Roy King aboard DMR Honda during another exhilarating Sidecar TT race. Their fearless approach propelled them towards triumph amidst fierce competition. Not limited to just one type of race event or team affiliation, Thirkell also ventured into other competitions like Southern 100 in 2009 alongside Wayne Martin riding Triumph motorcycles. This versatility showcases his adaptability across different racing platforms. Returning to recent times once more - in both 2022 and earlier years - Tony Thirkell reunited with Trevor Johnson for multiple Pre TT Classics races using various iterations of BMW bikes under different team names such as BMW Equipe or simply BMW itself. These collaborations further solidified their status as a formidable force within the racing community.
