From the Consular diptych of Boethius, an ivory relief dating back to 487, we catch a glimpse of the artistic prowess and cultural richness of this era. Furthermore, portraits like that depicting King Huneric provide insight into lesser-known rulers who played significant roles within their respective realms. These images offer glimpses into their personalities and reigns which shaped their societies' destinies. Moving away from politics, we delve into legends surrounding Venice's foundation amidst turmoil caused by Huns hunting refugees fleeing from Attila's wrath. The establishment story is depicted through various artworks illustrating these desperate individuals laying down foundations for what would become one of history's most iconic cities – Venice.
