"Water Amenities: A Glimpse into the Past" Step back in time to Questa vicinity, New Mexico in 1943, as captured by John Collier. Witness the creation that would forever change the lives of its inhabitants. Traveling further east to Washington, D. C. In 1942, Gordon Parks introduces us to an old peanut vendor on Seaton Road. Amidst bustling streets and a growing cityscape, this humble vendor reminds us of the importance of simple pleasures and quenching our thirst with refreshing water. Venturing westward to Marion County, Oregon in 1939, Dorothea Lange's lens transports us to a camp near West Stayton where bean pickers' children find solace amidst their laborious days. Water amenities provide them respite from their hardships and offer a glimmer of hope for a better future. Continuing our journey through Yakima Valley, Washington also in 1939, Lange captures another poignant moment near Wapato. The scarcity of water is evident as individuals rely on these vital resources for survival during challenging times. In Malheur County, Oregon during that same year, Mrs. Soper stands at a well with her youngest child beside her. This image immortalizes the resilience and determination found within communities striving for access to clean water amenities despite adversity. Heading south towards Alameda County, California in 1939 reveals a small farm nestled within coast range foothills. Through Dorothea Lange's lens once again we witness how even modest farms benefit from efficient irrigation systems provided by essential water amenities. Salinas Valley beckons next as we observe father and son planting potatoes on its outskirts in 1939. Their livelihood depends on reliable access to water amenities - an indispensable resource enabling agricultural prosperity throughout generations. Delving deeper into history brings us face-to-face with Machine de Marly - an engineering marvel constructed in 1843.
