"Whipping: A Historical Journey of Punishment and Pleasure" Step back in time to the Puritan era, where whipping was a common form of punishment. In 1651, Baptist minister Obadiah Holmes faced the lash for holding an unauthorized religious meeting in Lynn, Massachusetts.
