William (1834-1896) was a renowned artist and designer known for his exquisite decorative fabrics, wallpapers, and rugs. His creations were characterized by intricate floral motifs and vibrant colors that brought life to any space. One of his notable works is the Honeysuckle decorative fabric from 1876. This fabric featured delicate honeysuckle flowers intertwined with lush foliage, creating a sense of natural beauty in any room it adorned. In 1883, William designed the Strawberry Thief decorative fabric. This captivating design showcased birds stealing strawberries from a garden, capturing the whimsical charm of nature's mischief. His Pink and Poppy wallpaper design from 1880 exuded elegance with its graceful poppy flowers blooming against a soft pink background. The matching wallpaper created in 1881 added depth to interiors with its enchanting floral pattern. Another remarkable creation was the Blue floral motif tile dating back to the late 1870s or early 1880s. This tile incorporated William's signature style through its intricate blue flower design that could transform any space into an artistic haven. The Grafton wallpaper design circa 1883 displayed William's mastery in combining geometric patterns with botanical elements, resulting in a harmonious blend of artistry and functionality. Among his diverse portfolio was also the Artichoke rug crafted around 1880. This unique piece showcased William's ability to translate organic forms into stunning textile designs that added warmth and texture to floors. In addition to fabrics and wallpapers, William also ventured into hand-painted purple wallpaper as one of his earliest works—a testament to his innovative spirit as an artist who constantly pushed boundaries within his craft. Notably recognized for his iconic Strawberry Thief pattern yet again in 1883, this time on decorative fabric; it became synonymous with Morris' timeless aesthetic and remains highly sought after today.
