This woodblock print, created by the renowned artist Shunsho, showcases three prominent Kabuki actors of the Edo period in Japan: Segawa Kikunojo II as the Wet Nurse Reizei, Ichikawa Komazo I as Suruga no Hachiro in the disguise of the shamisen player Kichiroku, and Ichikawa Yaozo II as Tada no Kurando in the disguise of the palanquin bearer Kichinai. The scene depicted is from the play "Ima o Sakari Suehiro Genji" (The Genji Clan Now at Its Zenith), which was performed at the Nakamura Theater in the eleventh month of 1768. Kikunojo II, dressed in a traditional hosoban kimono, portrays the Wet Nurse Reizei with a serene expression, cradling a baby in her arms. Komazo I, wearing a vibrant green kimono and wielding a shamisen, transforms into Suruga no Hachiro, while Yaozo II dons a palanquin bearer's outfit and assumes the role of Tada no Kurando, Kichinai.
