Bust of the Right Hon. Sir J. Pakington, Bart. M.P. recently placed in the Museum... 1860. Creator: A. W
Bust of the Right Hon. Sir J. Pakington, Bart. M.P. recently placed in the Museum of the Royal Naval Hospital, Haslar, 1860. Bust by Baron Marochetti. There were nearly one hundred persons present [at the inauguration], including...the medical officers of the hospital and their families, several families in the neighbourhood, and the medical officers of her Majesty's ships in the port and at Spit-head...The bust, which is of marble, and alike admirable as a work of art and as a striking representation of the right hon. Baronet, rests upon a pedestal of red granite, upon which the following inscription is engraved: "This bust of the Right Hon. Sir John S. Pakington, Bart. G.C.B. is placed in Haslar Hospital by the medical officers of the Royal Navy, to record their sense of the benefits conferred upon that department of her Majesty's service during his administration as First Lord of the Admiralty in 1858-9".
