Font in St. Mary's Church, Stoke Newington, 1858. Creator: Unknown
Font in St. Mary's Church, Stoke Newington, 1858. This is an elegant design, from the studio of Mr. J. Sherwood Westmacott, of Wilton-place, Belgravia. The basin and vase are of Caen stone. The figures, emblematic of Baptism, are in statuary marble, the dwarf columns supporting them being made of polished red emperor marble, the capitals beautifully foliated in stone. Our representation gives a correct notion of this truly beautiful work. Its cost was £300, and not, as stated in other periodicals, £400'. From "Illustrated London News", 1858
