Kathleen Mavourneen, c1850, (1911). Kathleen Mavourneen, composed by Frederick Crouch (1808-1896) in 1837 with lyrics by Marion Crawford. The Irish soprano Catherine Hayes (1818-1861), greatly popularised the song and was the first Irish woman to sing at La Scala in Milan.
