Sketches in British Columbia: Harrison Lake, with the Cascade Mountains in the distance, 1864. 'The View of Harrison Lake is taken from a small bay looking down that lake, about fifteen miles from Douglas. In the centre is an island eight miles in length, known as Long Island. In the distance are a portion of the Cascade Mountains and Mount Baker, an active volcano, situated in Washington Territory, which belongs to the United States. Both the shores of the lake and the islands are covered with rocks, amidst which is some stunted pine timber'. From "Illustrated London News", 1864
