This title page and vignette are from the 1794 edition of "Klara Du Plessis Un Klairant" by August Heinrich Julius Lafontaine, illustrated by the renowned German artist Daniel Nikolaus Chodowiecki. August Lafontaine (1755-1805) was a prolific German poet and playwright, whose works were widely popular in Europe during the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
