The Archbasilica of Saint John Lateran, also known as the Archbasilica of St. John in the Lateran, is the cathedral church and the archbasilica of the Diocese of Rome and the papacy. It is the oldest of the four major papal basilicas in Rome and is located just outside the city's historic walls. The interior of the church is a masterpiece of Baroque and Neoclassical architecture, as evidenced in this etching by the unknown artist.
