Taken during its construction in the 1930s, the image showcases the impressive steel frames that form the foundation of this architectural marvel. Located on Exhibition Road in Kensington, London, this new building was designed by Sir Richard Allison and John Hatton Markham of H M Office of Works. The museum had previously resided on Jermyn Street before moving to this grand location. The steel frames depicted in the photograph were meticulously manufactured by Banister, Walton and Co Ltd. , showcasing their engineering prowess. These sturdy structures not only provide support but also add a touch of modernity to the museum's design. As we gaze upon this snapshot from history, we are reminded of both human ingenuity and nature's wonders.
