EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases the Engaged Cassetta Frame Polyptych Panel, believed to be created around 1380 in Siena. The panel, made from poplar wood and adorned with a mitered gilt brown orange bole frame, measures an impressive overall size of 509 x 33 cm. Within this grand frame, the sight dimensions reveal a stunning painting measuring 445 x 267 cm. The engaged frames on this artwork are characteristic of Sienese style during that period. It is attributed to Niccol di Buonaccorso, an artist active between 1356 and 1388. Sparse information about him exists today. The polyptych panel depicts scenes from the life of Christ and is thought to have been part of a portable altarpiece used for private devotion or small chapels. One notable scene depicted is the coronation of the Virgin Mary. Although only two panels remain from this once larger piece, they provide valuable insights into the artistic style and size preferences during that era. Today, you can find these panels displayed at prestigious institutions such as Uffizi Gallery in Florence and National Gallery in London. Artokoloro has beautifully captured this historical masterpiece through their lens, allowing art enthusiasts worldwide to appreciate its intricate details and rich symbolism without commercial use intentions.
