It is attributed to Niccol di Buonaccorso, an artist active between 1356 and 1388. Sparse information about him exists today. The polyptych panel depicts scenes from the life of Christ and is thought to have been part of a portable altarpiece used for private devotion or small chapels. One notable scene depicted is the coronation of the Virgin Mary.
