Despite the destruction, the church was not forgotten. In the aftermath of the fire, the office of Sir Christopher Wren, the renowned English architect, was commissioned to rebuild the church. Wren's design, completed in 1684, was a masterpiece of Baroque architecture, with a magnificent dome and intricate stonework. The church stood proudly for over two centuries, serving as a symbol of resilience and hope in the face of adversity. However, by the late 19th century, the area around All Hallows the Great had become industrialized, and the church was deemed surplus to requirements.
