Antonio Albizze, also known as Albicius, was a prominent Protestant theologian who lived in Catholic Florence during a tumultuous period of religious upheaval in Italy. Born in 1547, Albizze was educated in the Jesuit order before turning to Protestantism in the late 16th century. His conversion caused him to become a target of the Inquisition, and he was forced to flee Florence and go into hiding.
