EDITORS COMMENTS
This image showcases the historic moment when a grand balloon, constructed at the esteemed Château de Versailles in France during September 1783, was put on display for the King and Royal Family. The colossal balloon stood an impressive 60 feet high and 40 feet in diameter, adorned in resplendent blue and gold fabric. Intrigue and excitement filled the air as a sheep was carefully placed inside the cage suspended beneath the balloon. The anticipation reached its peak as the ascent took place, with the monarch and his esteemed family looking on in awe. The successful lift-off marked a significant milestone in the history of transportation and aviation. However, the adventure did not end at Versailles. The balloon later descended in Paris, specifically in the Carrefour Marechal area of the Bois de Vaucresson, near the Chemin aux Boeufs.
