Edaphosaurus (now identified as Naosaurus), a prominent reptile from the Permian period, is depicted in this lithograph. Hailing from the rich fossil deposits of Texas, this ancient creature once roamed the Earth over 270 million years ago. Naosaurus, meaning "ship lizard," was a herbivorous reptile with a distinctively long, flat snout and a series of bony plates along its back.
