This striking photograph captures a moment in time during a grand state occasion in 1910, as King Edward VII (1841-1910) is flanked by his beloved wife, Queen Alexandra (1844-1925), and their eldest children, Prince George, Duke of York (later George V, 1865-1936), and his wife, Princess Mary of Teck (1867-1953). The royal family is dressed in their most elegant attire, reflecting the opulence and grandeur of the British monarchy during this era. Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria, ascended to the throne in 1901 following his mother's death. Known for his love of fashion and the arts, the king is depicted here in a richly textured, double-breasted morning coat, complete with a white waistcoat and striped cravat. His wife, Alexandra, wears a magnificent gown adorned with intricate beadwork and lace, while her diamond diadem adds a regal touch to her regal appearance.
