Known as "Premier navigateur aerien et pensionnaire du roy" or "First Aerial Navigator and Pensioner of the King," Pilatre de Rozier's groundbreaking achievement marked the beginning of human flight. Born on May 21, 1754, in Paris, Pilatre de Rozier was an enthusiastic experimenter and inventor.
