Born in Llanelli, South Wales, in 1855, Davies began his musical career as a choirboy at the age of six. Davies made his operatic debut in 1883 as Colline in La Bohème with the Carl Rosa Opera Company. Over the next two decades, he graced the stages of major opera houses in Europe and the United States, earning acclaim for his powerful voice and captivating stage presence. However, Davies' true legacy lies in his dedication to teaching. He opened his own singing school in London in 1895, where he trained countless students, many of whom went on to enjoy successful careers in opera and concert music. Davies' innovative teaching methods emphasized the importance of proper breath control, diction, and musical interpretation.
