As the procession approached the creature, the musicians played loud and joyful music, confusing and disorienting the Tarasque. Seizing the opportunity, Roi Rene and his soldiers attacked the monster, slaying it and freeing the town from its grasp. To this day, the people of Tarascon celebrate their victory over the Tarasque with an annual procession, reenacting the events of that fateful day. This tradition serves as a reminder of the power of courage, unity, and the enduring spirit of the people of Provence.
