This engraving depicts Gabriel de Rojas Cordova, a prominent Spanish conquistador during the 16th century. Born around 1480, Cordova hailed from the region of Castile and León in Spain. He played a significant role in the conquest of Central America, particularly in the campaigns led by Hernán Cortés against the Aztec Empire in New Spain.
