De Courvoisier's impressive career spanned over four decades, during which he played a significant role in shaping the political landscape of France. Born in Paris, de Courvoisier studied law at the prestigious Sorbonne University. He began his legal career as a magistrate in the Parisian courts, quickly rising through the ranks due to his exceptional intellect and unwavering commitment to justice. In 1814, he was appointed as the Attorney General of the Court of Cassation, the highest court in France, a position he held until his retirement in 1832. De Courvoisier's political career began in earnest when he was elected as a deputy to the Chamber of Deputies in 1815. He was a vocal advocate for constitutional government and civil liberties, and his eloquent speeches in the Chamber earned him a reputation as a brilliant orator. In 1816, he was appointed as Minister of Justice under King Louis XVIII, a position he held for two years. During his tenure, he worked tirelessly to reform the criminal justice system and restore the rule of law after the turmoil of the Napoleonic Wars.
