In 1793, Jeanne was arrested and put on trial for her role in the excesses of the royal court. Despite her attempts to flee, she was captured and brought before the Revolutionary Tribunal. On January 17, 1793, Jeanne Becu, Comtesse du Barry, was guillotined in the Place de la Révolution, marking the end of an extraordinary chapter in French history.
