This stunning 14th century print depicts the Peace and Truce Assembly, held in Tortosa in 1225, as recorded in the Libro Verde of Barcelona. Presided over by King Jaime I The Conqueror of Aragon and Catalonia, the assembly aimed to establish peace and truce between the Christian kingdoms and the Muslim world. The image captures the solemnity of the occasion, with the king seated on his throne, dressed in his royal robes and wearing the crown, while the bishop and cardinal look on, their miters adorned with crosses. The Codex, known as Libro Verde or Llibre Verd, is a valuable manuscript containing the privileges of the city of Barcelona, written in Gothic script and decorated with intricate miniatures.
