Llibre del Feits, or the Chronicle of James I, is a magnificent folio manuscript and pictorial record of the reign of King James I of Aragon (1213-1276), also known as James the Conqueror. This exquisite image is taken from the Madrid edition of the Llibre del Feits, housed in the National Library of Spain. The painting depicts a grand banquet scene, with King James I seated at the center, surrounded by his noblemen and courtiers. The king is shown wearing his royal robes and holding a scepter, symbolizing his power and authority. The miniature, created during the late 13th century, is a testament to the artistic and cultural achievements of the Crown of Aragon during the Middle Ages. The scene takes place in the royal court of Perpignan, in the Principality of Catalonia, which was under the rule of James I.
