During the Peninsular War, Suchet led the French forces in the siege of Valencia and the Battle of Alhama de Murcia. He was known for his innovative military tactics and his ability to adapt to changing circumstances on the battlefield. After the fall of Napoleon, Suchet continued to serve in the French military, but he was eventually exiled to Algeria. He died in Algiers on March 13, 1826.
