The image was created by Madame Rousselet, wife of Tardieu, based on an illustration by Jacques de Seve for the renowned naturalist Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon's groundbreaking work, "Histoire Naturelle, Générale et Particulière," published by the Imprimerie Royale in Paris in 1766. The Angolan talapoin is a small, agile monkey with a distinctive coppery-red to orange-brown coat, contrasting white underparts, and a bushy, prehensile tail.
