Doctor Prosody's Perilous Voyage through the Whirlpool of Corryvreckan This handcoloured copperplate engraving captures the thrilling moment when Doctor Prosody and his English companions bravely navigate the treacherous waters of the Corryvreckan Whirlpool, located between the islands of Jura and Scarba in Scotland. The doctor, dressed in his formal attire and holding a top hat, gazes intently at the churning waters, no doubt with a mixture of excitement and apprehension. His companions, equally daring, stand in the boat, some aiming guns, while others hold on tight to the sides. The rugged landscape of the Scottish Highlands serves as a dramatic backdrop to this scene. Towering cliffs, covered in lush greenery, rise up on either side of the strait.
