In this charming family photograph, taken in 1891, we see a gathering of the Hardy family, including artist Florence Hardy (1867-1957), her father Thomas Bush Hardy (1828-1912), a renowned marine painter, and her sisters Dorothy and Edith. Thomas Bush Hardy is also the father of Florence's younger sister, Jessie, who is also present in the image. In the front row, Rebecca, Thomas Bush Hardy's second wife, holds their baby daughter Barbara. Two young nephews, one in a sailor suit, complete the scene. Florence Hardy, the eldest daughter, was a talented artist in her own right and followed in her father's footsteps. Her sister Dudley Hardy (1872-1941) was also an artist, making the Hardy family a notable artistic dynasty.
