The illustration was drawn and directed by the renowned French botanical illustrator Pierre Jean-Francois Turpin (1775-1840), with engraving by Massard. Turpin is considered one of the greatest botanical illustrators of the 19th century, known for his meticulous attention to detail and accurate representation of his subjects.
