Horseweed, also known as Butterweed or Canada fleabane, is a herbaceous perennial that typically grows in open fields, meadows, and disturbed areas. The plant's name, Erigeron, comes from the Greek words "erigo" meaning "to make erect" and "eron" meaning "herb," likely referring to the plant's upright growth habit. The illustration showcases the plant in all its intricacy, with each petal, vein, and seed meticulously rendered in vibrant colors. The plant is depicted in full bloom, with its white or pinkish-purple flowers clustered atop tall stems.
