Isabella, The Barbers Daughter, by Harry Clifton

Promotional music sheet for Isabella The Barbers Daughter, song written and sung by Harry Clifton, 1863. The song tells the tale of a gentleman, pictured, who meets Isabella, the barbers daughter, on a boat where they strike up a friendship. After taking her out for days around London and to Brighton, he assumes that he is engaged to her but having agreed to meet him again, she fails to turn up and when found is in the arms of another man. After getting his satisfaction with the other man, he thinks about throwing himself in the Thames but thinks better of it in the end.
