The name "China Ship" was believed to have been derived from the area's past as a hub for trade with China. Sadly, the original China Ship PH was demolished prior to 1940, and a new pub was built in its place. The exact date of the demolition and the construction of the new pub is not known, but this photograph provides a valuable snapshot of the past.
