This evocative photograph captures the charming and historic Crooked Billet Public House, located in the vibrant neighborhood of Hoxton, London. The image presents a corner view of the pub, with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate signage, which once proudly displayed the name "Crooked Billet" and the emblem of a horse and jockey. The pub, a beloved local institution, was a gathering place for friends and strangers alike, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere, excellent beer, and hearty meals. The Crooked Billet, which was owned by Hoare and Company Limited, had a rich history that spanned over a century. However, as of July 2018, this cherished piece of Hoxton's history was no more. The pub, unfortunately, met its demise and was demolished, making way for new developments. The back of the print reveals the address of the pub, N1 6LB, a poignant reminder of what once stood there. This photograph is a testament to the ever-changing landscape of urban areas and the importance of preserving the memories of the places that hold significance in our lives.
