This evocative photograph captures the historic Crown & Shears Public House, located in the heart of Minories, London. The image, taken from the left side, showcases the pub's charming facade with its distinctive signage featuring a crown and a pair of shears. The Crown & Shears was a beloved local watering hole with a rich history, as evidenced by the trading record detailed on the reverse of this print. The back of the print reveals that the pub had been in operation since 1934 and continued to serve its community until 1961. Sadly, by July 2018, the Crown & Shears had been demolished, making this photograph an invaluable record of a cherished piece of London's pub history. The pub was not affiliated with Hoare & Company Limited, as some may assume from the name, but rather an independent establishment that held a special place in the Minories community. This photograph is an excellent reminder of the unique character and history that once defined London's public houses.
