EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the charm and character of the Latimer Arms pub in Notting Hill, London, as it looked in the 1910s. The image, taken from the corner, showcases the beautiful red brick facade of the building, adorned with ornate detailing and the distinctive "Latimer Arms" sign. The pub, which was located at 115-117 Ladbroke Grove, W11 4TX, was a beloved local institution for over five decades, having been established in 1919. The Latimer Arms was originally owned and operated by the Charrington and Company Limited, a well-known brewery in London at the time. The pub was a popular gathering place for the community, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere where friends could meet over a pint and share stories. Unfortunately, the Latimer Arms did not survive the test of time. The pub was demolished in 1968, making way for new development. Today, the site where the pub once stood is a reminder of the rich history and character of Notting Hill, a neighborhood known for its vibrant culture and unique charm. This photograph is a precious reminder of a bygone era, offering a glimpse into the past and the history of a beloved local institution. The back of the print includes details about the location and history of the Latimer Arms, making it a must-have for anyone with an interest in London's history or pub culture.
