The Old Coffee Pot, established by the Hoare and Company Limited, was a popular watering hole for locals and visitors alike, with a rich history dating back to at least 1934. However, the pub's story is not just one of tradition and hospitality. The back of this print reveals a poignant chapter in the Old Coffee Pot's history. On December 29, 1940, the pub was completely destroyed by bombing during World War II. Despite the devastation, the lease was not claimed until 1946. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience of London's historic buildings and the enduring spirit of the city's pubs. The Old Coffee Pot may no longer stand, but its memory lives on through images like this one.
