This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Prince Alfred Public House, located in the heart of Camberwell, London. The image, taken from the left side, showcases the pub's distinctive red brick exterior adorned with ornate white detailing. The Prince Alfred, a beloved local watering hole, was a long-standing establishment with a rich history. As documented on the back of the print (available upon request), the pub's trading record dates back to 1929 and 1961. For over four decades, the Prince Alfred served the community of Camberwell, offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for locals and visitors alike. The pub was a proud part of the Charrington and Company Limited family, a well-known name in the British pub industry. Although the exact date of this photograph is unknown, it captures the essence of a bygone era, when neighborhood pubs served as the heart and soul of their communities. Sadly, as of July 2018, the Prince Alfred Public House was no more. Demolished, the building that once housed this cherished establishment now stands as a reminder of the past, leaving behind memories of good times and camaraderie shared within its walls.
