The Prince of Wales has a rich history, with the back of this print revealing its trading record from 1934 and 1944. Unfortunately, this establishment holds a somber past, as it was hit by a bomb during an air raid on October 13, 1940. Over thirty lives were lost in the tragedy. The front half of the pub was completely destroyed in the attack. Despite the devastation, the pub's saloon was reopened as a lock-up on April 10, 1941. However, it was once again closed due to enemy action on June 29, 1944.
