This evocative photograph captures the corner view of the Princess Alice Public House, located in the heart of Canning Town, London, in the late 1930s. The image, taken by an unknown photographer, offers a glimpse into the past, showcasing the distinctive red brick facade of the pub with its ornate signage and decorative details. The Princess Alice, a beloved local establishment, was owned and operated by the Hoare and Company Limited. The back of the print reveals the trading record for the pub, detailing its operation from 1934 to 1941. Sadly, as of July 2018, the pub had closed its doors and was demolished, leaving behind only memories and this precious photograph. The street where the Princess Alice once stood no longer exists, adding to the sense of nostalgia and loss.
