EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Rifleman PH, a once-popular public house located in Edmonton, London. The image offers a glimpse into the past, as the pub, with its ornate brickwork and large, arched windows, stands proudly against a backdrop of lush greenery. The Rifleman PH, a beloved local watering hole, was a fixture in the Edmonton community until the 1940s. At that time, the pub met an unfortunate fate, as it was closed and later converted into the Lesney die.cast Matchbox toy factory in 1947. The factory, which produced iconic toy vehicles, would go on to become a significant part of British popular culture. Sadly, the Rifleman PH, like many historical buildings, is no longer in existence. It has been long demolished, leaving only memories and photographs as reminders of its former glory. The image on this print serves as a poignant reminder of the rich history and character that once defined this Edmonton pub. Addressed as Nothing for the Rifleman, Edmonton, London N17 0DP, the pub was a cherished gathering place for generations of locals. The Rifleman PH was more than just a building; it was a hub of community life, a place where friends and neighbors came together to share stories, laughter, and a pint. This photograph, taken before the pub's closure, offers a rare glimpse into the past, inviting us to imagine the lively conversations and camaraderie that once filled its cozy interior. The Rifleman PH may no longer stand, but its legacy lives on through the memories of those who knew it and the images that capture its essence.
