This evocative photograph captures the exterior of the Warrior pub, located in the heart of Camberwell, London. The image, taken from an angle, showcases the corner of this historic public house, with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate, tiled signage. The Warrior, which was once a beloved local watering hole, is adorned with the emblem of a fierce warrior, holding a sword and shield, a fitting symbol for this establishment. The back of the print reveals the rich history of the Warrior, detailing its trading record from 1934 and 1942. The pub, which was located at SE5 0TW, was a long-standing institution in the Camberwell community. Regrettably, as of July 2018, the Warrior pub had been demolished. The Hoare & Company Limited, which operated the pub, was not the same Hoare & Company that is well-known for its banking heritage. Instead, it was a separate entity that specialized in the pub business. This photograph serves as a poignant reminder of the Warrior's storied past, a time when it was a gathering place for friends, neighbors, and locals, who shared stories, laughter, and a pint or two.
