The Rising Sun Pub, located at the corner of Anerley Road and Upper Norwood in Greater London, is a historic public house that holds a rich history, as well as a tragic past. The main side of this photograph print showcases the charming facade of the pub, with its ornate brickwork and distinctive signage. The Rising Sun, which was once a popular local watering hole, was established by the Hoare and Company Limited. However, the history of this pub is not without its hardships. In 1944, during World War II, the Rising Sun was badly damaged by a V2 rocket attack. Despite the damage, the pub was never reopened, leaving a gaping hole in the community. The back of this print, available upon request, details the address of the pub, SE20 8QD, and the unfortunate fact that it remains closed to this day. The Rising Sun Pub stands as a reminder of the past, a testament to the resilience of the community, and a symbol of the history that continues to shape Upper Norwood and Greater London.
