EDITORS COMMENTS
This evocative photograph captures the grandeur and elegance of the Bruhl Palace, also known as the Sandomierski Palace, which once stood proudly at Pilsudski Square in Warsaw. Dating back to 1910, this palatial residence is a stunning example of rococo architecture, with its ornate facade adorned with intricate carvings and elaborate railings. The main gate and corps de logis, depicted in this image, offer a glimpse into the opulence that once resided within. However, this historic building, which was one of the largest palaces in pre-World War II Warsaw, was tragically destroyed by the occupying Germans on December 18th, 1944. The image captures the main entrance, with its intricate gateway and railings, which once welcomed visitors to the palace. The Bruhl Palace, with its rich history and architectural significance, now serves as a poignant reminder of the past and the devastating impact of war.
